Gameplay Engineer, Intern (Full-Time, Temporary Contract)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Gameplay Engineer Intern to join our creative team for a 3-month internship. In this role, you will work closely with other team members to contribute to the concept, design, and development of an Unreal for Fortnite (UEFN) island/map. This internship is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the gaming industry and build a strong foundation for a future career as a game designer.

We are not your typical game developer and publisher. We are pioneering a new category in the industry, driven by our passion for creating groundbreaking gameplay experiences and expanding the boundaries of interactive entertainment. Our unique approach revolves around building new gameplay and intellectual property (IP) within Creator marketplaces, with our initial focus being on Unreal for Fortnite (UEFN). Our company is the brainchild of a team of seasoned game developers who bring a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success. We understand success requires humility to build trust by delivering games true to the audience on these platforms, and by listening and engaging directly with the Player base. You will be key in shaping our conversation with our players.

Responsibilities:

  • You have at least a year of applicable experience writing code for games. That code could be C++, python, or java. Those games could be projects for class, game jams, or just something you did on the side.

  • You enjoy working with others. You thrive in collaborative environments.

  • You are self-driven. You can take a few sentences and turn them into a feature. You’re not afraid to design and code the feature yourself.

  • You are a creative problem solver. You relish the opportunity to find solutions that aren’t always a straight line from point A to point B

  • You take constructive feedback well. Internships are about learning and growing. Your peers have decades of experience and want to help you succeed!

Qualifications:

  • You will be working on an “island” for publishing on the Fortnite platform. You will be building using Unreal Editor for Fortnite, so any Unreal Engine experience is a plus.

  • You will be collaborating with the team as well as a game design intern to take an idea from concept to completion.

  • You will be writing code in the Verse programming language, going through code reviews, and building features by combining the Fortnite device catalog with custom Verse code.

  • You will be playing your island, other islands in development at Look North World, and Fortnite regularly and providing feedback on those experiences.

  • Should your “island” meet the high quality standards of Look North World, you will be publishing an island for millions of players to enjoy and Look North World will be putting the might of our marketing machine behind it.

Application Instructions: To apply, please submit your resume to resumes@looknorth.world, and examples of your work.
